This Week’s HERstory Maker: Aya Miyaguchi
Today, she’s the President of the Ethereum Foundation. But she didn't start in tech. She started in a classroom, teaching English literature to high school students in Japan.

Aya's curiosity about how financial systems could work differently led her to blockchain. In 2013, she joined Kraken as Managing Director of Japan, educating regulators, investors, and media when most people had never heard the word "blockchain." She founded the Japan Blockchain Association, giving the country's crypto community a collective voice. In 2018, she became Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation, where she led the ecosystem through core research, developer funding, and global education, including overseeing The Merge, Ethereum's historic transition to proof-of-stake. In 2025, she officially stepped into the role of President.
Her guiding philosophy? "Subtraction.” Real leadership means creating conditions for others to build, not controlling outcomes. She calls Ethereum an "Infinite Garden." An open-source space strengthened by its diversity, where growth is collective.
Why she matters to us: Aya started out teaching English, and transformed her path towards stewarding the platform that now powers billions of dollars in decentralized applications. Not by trying to own the space, but by making sure everyone had room to grow in it. Every builder in this community learning blockchain, shipping their first project, asking "what's possible?" — you're planting seeds in the garden she's tending.

#75HER Challenge: That's a Wrap 🎉

On March 22nd, the #75HER Challenge officially wrapped — and we need to take a moment to talk about what this community just did.
Quarter 1 of 2026. 274 builders across 34 countries showed up for 75 days of learning, ideating, and building in AI/ML, AR/VR, and Blockchain. 25 workshops and sessions. 50 projects submitted.
